Games for the Beach

The beach, no matter where it is across the country, is a popular vacation destination for people of all ages and backgrounds. When at the beach, not everyone wants to just sit in their chair and catch some rays or go swimming the entire time. Instead, they want to keep busy by playing games on the beach such as horseshoes, wiffle ball, football or having a catch.

A lot of people setup volleyball nets on the beach and have volleyball tournaments that take the entire day to play. Other games that can be played by more than five people include rugby and frisbee. If you are only with 2, 3, or 4 other people you can play bocce ball, softball, tennis, croquet, kite flying or paddle ball.

Of course, if you can’t think of anything to play or don’t have the equipment needed to play some of these games you can always play tag. That’s right, one of the most popular games of all-time, tag, can be played on the beach. Actually, tag is a ton of fun on the beach because running through soft sand is not an easy task to complete. Not only will you have fun but you will also get a ton of exercise when running around.

One of the most popular games to be played on the beaches of America during the summer of 2009 has been Ladderball. There are two ladders, with three different colored rungs, placed about 25 feet apart. Each team has a set of balls that are strung together. You throw the balls to the other ladder and depending on which rung the ball lands you score different points.
